The council of traditional rulers in Imo state have put out their support for Governor Hope Uzodinma.
As an aftermath of a meeting held at the state’s capital on Sunday, 9th of July 2023,the deputy chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers revealed this.
HRH Akujobi Osuagwu said this is because the governor have performed excellently in the last 3 years and deserves another term.

Other Candidates Should Step Down For Uzodinma – Nworgu
HRH Jude Nworgu, the traditional ruler of the Egbelu Ebube Ancient Kingdom in Imo State had also reiterated this during the meeting.
“We demand that after Senator Hope Uzodinma’s 7 years and in line with Imo charter of equity, it should be the turn of Ndi owerri zone to produce the next governor in 2027” he said.
He went on to implore the aspirants from the Owerri zone to reconsider their stand and step down for the current governor, Uzodinma.
Owerri Alone Has 5 Candidates, Other Zones Have One – Osuagwu
In his statement during the meeting, the Deputy Chairman of the traditional rulers council said, owerri has 5 candidates while other zone have just one each.

And if owerri doesn’t support Uzodinma for re-election, they might be going nowhere in 2027.
17 Political Parties In Contention For The Office
Meanwhile 17 political parties are confirmed to be participating in the election scheduled to hold on the November 11th 2023.
The current governor also belives that his achievements in the last 3 years qualifies him for another term in office.
Senator Samuel Anyanwu of the PDP who is the current National Publicity Secretary of the party is the flag bearer.

While Senator Athan Achonu is the confirmed candidate of the Labour Party.
Conclusion
While the 3 senators from the 3 major political parties in the country are set to duel in a battle that looks like the battle of senators, only one of them can emerge as the governor.
