- The Abia State House of Assembly has received complaints against several key figures in the state’s health sector.
- One such complaint from the Concerned Parents Forum of students of Midwifery and Nursing School, Abia State, targets Mr Nwakaego Onyeukwu, the acting Director of nursing services.
- Accuse him of fraudulent practices, intimidation, and threats against students.
During a recent session, the House also addressed complaints against the State’s Health Commissioner, Dr Mrs Ngozi Okoronkwo, for the alleged unfair suspension of Mrs Dorathy Nwosu, a Director of nursing services. Another grievance was raised by the acting Principal of the School of Nursing, Umuahia, Mrs Chinyere Ogbonna, against the Dean of the ministry of health, Umuahia, accusing the dean of defamation and overstepping his authority.
The Speaker of the House, Emmanuel Emeruwa, has tasked the House Committee on health with probing into these allegations, expecting feedback within two weeks.
Additionally, a complaint regarding a land dispute involving Dr. Ugochukwu Nwajiri, the Chairman of Ndiokonkwo house, and Mr Ndionyenma Nwajiri was forwarded to the Committee on public petitions, with a two-week deadline for their findings.

Separately, Mathias Umeh, representing the Umunnochi constituency, voiced concerns about the severe erosion and poor road conditions affecting his constituents’ lives and livelihoods, urging prompt intervention from the relevant authorities.
