- Peter Obi has challenged Chief Bola Tinubu to personally address the claims of forgery against him,
- Says it’s better, rather than outsourcing the sensitive issue of his true identity to surrogates.
- He made this statement during a press conference on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to the former governor of Anambra State, Tinubu owed it to Nigerians and the international community to reintroduce himself and put an end to the controversies surrounding his identity. He added that it was a national problem and a crisis and that the incident had endangered the nation’s reputation.
Obi stated that Tinubu should address the issue himself and not through surrogates. He also said that Tinubu should disclose his true identity, including his name, nationality, place of birth, parentage, the primary and secondary schools he attended with dates as well as the actual universities he attended and certificates obtained.
He should indicate clearly where and when he did his National Youth Service. In addition, if at any time he has had a change of name, he should clearly state so and the circumstances.

Obi argued that Tinubu’s personal identity is a matter of grave national and international interest. He said that the people deserve to know for a certainty the true identity of their leader, and this overrides whatever rights he may have to personal privacy.
He also said that the international community deserves to know the true identity of the person with whom they will engage in Nigeria.
