Some officials who include the Anambra state commissioner for works; commissioner for environment; and the chief of staff to the governor have visited the Oba erosion scene of the onitsha-owerri highway.
They did this to get the full scope of the dire situation of the road, which have been a busy one.
The road have been affected badly by erosion and the members of the community have cried out to the government to fix the road and find a lasting solution to the situation

The onitsha-owerri road being a federal road is not under the purview of the state government. But the state government has been trying her best to help find a lasting solution to the menace.
Speaking at the site, the commissioner of works, Ifeanyi Okoma said, “after examining we decided that the first thing we have to do is to stop the progression of the erosion. And the contractor started that, that is why we still have one section of the road.
I talked with the Federal Ministry of Works and also interact with the Federal Road Maintenance Agency on this.”
Meanwhile, the commissioner for environment of the state, Felix Odimegwu who was also present said, “we are calling on the federal government to look into the needs of these things is actually the erosion capital of the world.”

While the chief of staff to the governor who led the team said: “the level of Devastation we saw here is something that we are not waiting for federal government to do. Citizens who are making use of this road are mostly people who are from anambra State”
The members of the community would expect a lasting solution to the issue soon.
