Joseph Obinna Ogba is a politician in the African nation of Nigeria. In the Nigerian Senate, he serves as the senator for the Ebonyi Central senatorial district. He serves as a senator-elect in the 9th republic of the National Assembly in addition to being a member of the 8th National Assembly in Nigeria.
EARLY LIFE/EDUCATION
Joseph Ogba was born in the year 1961 in the Nkalagu community of the Ishielu Local Government Area in the state of Ebonyi, Nigeria. He spent a short time growing up in Ishielu. Ogba obtained his General Certificate of Education in the year 1975 after completing his secondary education at Command Secondary School in Nkalagu. After that, he received a diploma as well as a higher national diploma in the field of mass communication from the Federal Polytechnic in Oko.

CAREER
Ogba began his career officiating football matches in 1986 with the Nigerian Football Referee Association. He was given the position of Chairman of the Nigeria Football Referee Council (Anambra State Chapter) in the year 1995, and he remained in that role until the year 1997. In 1997, he was given a position on the Federal Government Delegation to the United States on Image Building. In that capacity, he traveled to the United States.

After entering politics for the first time in 1998, he was quickly elected Chairman of the Ishielu local government in Ebonyi State. Following that, he was given the position of Chairman of Chairmen (ALGON) in the state of Ebonyi. As a result of his extensive experience in the sport of football, he was chosen Chairman of the Ebonyi Angels Football Club in 1999 and served in that capacity until 2002.
In 2002, he was given the position of Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Ebonyi State, despite the fact that he was already serving as Chairman of Ebonyi Angels. After holding the position of commissioner for several years, he was promoted to the position of Chairman of the Ebonyi State Football Association in 2003. In 2006, he presided over the Nigeria Football Federation’s marketing and sponsor committee as the organization’s Chairman.
Ogba ran for a seat in the Nigerian Senate in the general elections held in 2015 and was successful in winning the election to represent the Ebonyi Central senatorial district. Within the Nigerian Senate’s Committee on Sports, he was given the position of Chairman. In 2019, he won re-election to serve as a senator in Nigeria for a second consecutive term.
