In one of the most thrilling matches, Nigeria managed to draw the Canadian Women Team at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Canada Women’s team who is 7th placed in the world FIFA Women’s Ranking met Nigerian Super Falcons in the first group stage game of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023. The group consisting of Canada; 7th placed, Australia; 10th placed, Ireland; 22nd placed and Nigeria; 40th placed is sure one of the toughest groups in the tournament.
Chiamaka’s Big Save
Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, the captain of the Super Falcons, made a heroic penalty save in the 50th minute of the match which kept the team in the game. She carted away with the Woman of the Match award, deservedly so.

Nigerian Super Falcons, who are the least ranked in the group, ended the first round with a 0-0 tie with the highest ranked team in the group, Canada.
Whether the Super Falcons will qualify for the next stage is still a big question, but they have surely done a great job by silencing one of the best teams in the history of the game.
